Dr Johan Jurgens
All transgressions as laid out in the Code of Conduct for learners, are divided into two categories. Debit point are given for transgressions and points are credited for positive behavior.
These debit/credit points have no effect on the pupil’s academic marks and can therefore not be added or subtracted from test/exam marks. NB Should a pupil require 200 or more negative points, it is possible that he/she may not be considered for nomination for the SRC. Should a member of the SRC have 200 debit points against his/her name, he/she may lose his/her position on the SRC. Learners may sign an appeal form within 24 hours which may be lodged with any member of the disciplinary committee. Punishment is a corrective measure which the pupil himself/herself controls so that he/she endures the punishment that he/she caused. This is to maintain an orderly society at school. No corporal punishment may be carried out. Punishment must be in accordance with the transgression and according to the Code of Conduct for Learners.
The following can be applied:

Verbal or written warning from an educator
Telephonic or personal interview/conversation with parents.
Detention where schoolwork is completed under supervision:
Detention: Friday: from 14:00 - 16:00 no excuses will be accepted after the detention. If a pupil is absent on a Friday, he/she must hand in a medical certificate on the following Monday. If a pupil neglects/refuse to do this, this will be seen as not attending the detention, thus being absent. If a pupil does not behave during the detention session, he/she will be sent home. A punishment of 100 negative points will be given. If a learner/pupil has been absent for three detentions without a valid excuse, his negative points will NOT be taken away at the end of the year. A copy of his negative points will be placed in his file. The same rule applies to pupils that have more than 1000 negative points at the end of the year.

An agreement where vandalized property is replaced.
Replacement, repair or compensation of damaged property.
Suspension/exclusion from certain school activities.
